Only intended for use with blunt Acme threaded spring nut screws, spring nuts fall into three types: the U-, C- or J-nut. These letters approximate to the shape of the nuts when viewed in section, so a U-nut has its fold along the short edge, the C-nut has its fold along the long edge and the J-nut has the upper side longer than the lower.
