1963-69 Fresh Air Heaters and Fresh Air Ventilators
Except 1966-69 Cooper S
From 1963 a new design of fresh air heater was specified with a 2.8kW fan inside it in standard form. Also available as an option, or standard fitment for
colder climates, was a similar heater with a 4kW blower unit mounted in the engine bay rather than within the heater casing. However, the 4kW unit was
never specified on the Cooper S, because of lack of space in the engine bay caused by brake servo fitment.
Fresh air hoses changed from the soft-feel wire reinforced type to more rigid moulded PVC in early 1967, not long before the end of Mini Mk I production.

Before 1966 the fresh air intake tube on the front panel was metal, rather than plastic. The metal tube was never (and still isn't) offered as a service part.

1966-69 Fresh Air Heaters and Fresh Air Ventilators
Cooper S
Between 1966 and 1969 the Cooper S received revised fresh air ducting. This featured a reduced diameter hose in the engine bay, giving increased clearance
between it and the brake servo. Actually for 'reduced' you can read 'restricted', for the revised ducting certainly did not exactly improve the Mini's mediocre
heating and ventilating performance! If you are careful with installation, there is sufficient space for standard diameter ducting if that's what you would
rather fit.

The 1963-69 metal-bodied fresh air heaters and fresh air ventilators were fitted with covers for the demister hoses. These were not used on the plastic-bodied fresh air heaters and ventilators of 1968-69.
